Trumpet Professor, The University of Alabama School of Music

The University of Alabama Trumpet Studio is comprised of approximately 20 music majors studying Trumpet Performance, Music Education, and Music Therapy. The University of Alabama School of Music is a comprehensive music school that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in every major discipline in the field of music. The UA Trumpet Studio has students at all levels, including the Masters and Doctoral level. UA offers a curriculum in music that combines a comprehensive study of music from faculty who are leaders in their field with numerous performance opportunities for students. The Trumpet Studio regularly performs concerts, recitals, and has traveled to regional trumpet events. A Trumpet Ensemble and weekly Studio Class are also part of the experience. Trumpet and Brass Lectures, Demonstrations, Master Classes

Dr. Yates is available to present lectures, demonstrations, and masterclasses on trumpet to students of all ages and skill levels. Through years of teaching experience he has developed lecture programs appropriate for nearly all learning environments, from collegiate music classes to grade school assemblies for general students as well as dedicated music students. He has presented lectures at The University of Alabama School of Music, schools in and around the Tuscaloosa Alabama region, schools in and around Chicago, and Northwestern University and Columbia College Chicago on such topics as trumpet and brass instrument history and performance practice, brass quintet, and baroque trumpet.

Dr. Yates has maintained a professional private lesson studio since 1997. He has worked with students ranging from school-age beginners to adults of varying experience levels.
